• Katherine Slivensky

    PRESIDENT

    Katherine (‘25) was born and raised in Brazil to a Greek family. She moved to the U.S. in 2015 to pursue her undergraduate education at Michigan State University (MSU), where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from James Madison College. At MSU, Katherine served as Student Body President. She also served on the executive board of the Association of Big Ten Students (a conglomerate of all Big Ten student governments), the International Student Association, and the Brazilian student organization. Before law school, she worked at a Department of Energy nuclear physics laboratory as a policy analyst, and later at a financial services firm. Katherine served on the executive board of the Latinx Law Student Association at Michigan Law. She interned at Jones Day in Chicago for her 1L summer and returned to the Jones Day Detroit and Chicago offices for her 2L summer.

  • Ryan Carmody

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Ryan (‘26) is a native of Grand Blanc, Michigan. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hillsdale College in 2023. At Hillsdale, Ryan served as Vice President and then President of the Hillsdale College Federalist Society chapter, where he organized many speaker events, including a Feddie Fight Night featuring three Justices of the Michigan Supreme Court. During his 1L year, he served as a Speaker Committee Deputy for the Michigan Law FedSoc chapter, where he helped bring a guest speaker to Michigan from the UK.  For his 1L summer, Ryan interned at the Benzie County Prosecutor’s office in northern Michigan.

  • Caleb Chadwell

    SYMPOSIUM CO-CHAIR (PLANNING)

    Caleb (‘25) is from Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. A double Wolverine, he graduated with high honors from the University of Michigan in 2019 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Prior to law school, he worked as a corporate strategy project manager in Frankfurt, Germany. He is a Senior Editor of the Michigan Law Review, Treasurer of the Christian Legal Society, and was a guardian ad litem in the Advocacy Clinic. During his 1L summer, Caleb interned for the Honorable Robert J. Luck on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Caleb spent his 2L summer at Skadden in London, England. Following graduation, he will commission as a JAG officer in the U.S. Air Force.

  • JJ Marshall

    SYMPOSIUM CO-CHAIR (LOGISTICS)

    Jeremy (‘25) is from Austin, Texas. He graduated from Liberty University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies and a minor in Biblical Theology. Prior to attending college, Jeremy helped plant three churches in the Austin area, served as a pastor and a worship leader, and taught classes on philosophy, theology, and Christian communications. He also spent 10 years as a musician. He is active in the foster care and adoptive systems, giving talks to raise awareness about the benefits of and need for foster parents. Jeremy and his wife, Ruthy, have fostered 16 children and adopted three. He served as a legal intern for the District Attorney’s Office of Travis County, TX, and returned to Austin to spend his 2L summer at O’Melveny and Myers.

  • Steven Arthur

    SPEAKER COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

    Steven (‘25) is from Boise, Idaho. He graduated summa cum laude from the Boise State University Honors College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Before undergrad, Steven was a professional touring musician. As an undergraduate, Steven was a Summer Courses Fellow with the Hertog Foundation. Prior to law school, he worked as a proofreader at an intellectual-property boutique. Steven spent his 1L summer serving as a judicial intern for Judge Charles R. Eskridge on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Steven is also a board member of the Christian Legal Society, a Guest Editor for the Texas Review of Law & Politics, and a Law School Associate for the Manhattan Institute. He spent his 2L summer at a litigation boutique in San Francisco. After graduation, Steven will clerk for Judge James Wesley Hendrix on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

  • Joseph Hoppe

    SPEAKER COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

    Joseph (‘25) is from Belleville, Michigan. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hillsdale College in 2022 with Bachelors of Science in Politics and Economics and a minor in Chemistry. At Hillsdale College, Joseph participated in the undergraduate chapter of the Federalist Society as well as the Praxis Economics Club. While in law school, Joseph has served as co-chair of the Michigan Federalist Society’s Speaker Committee, and is also a member of the Christian Legal Society. During the summer of 2023, Joseph interned for Judge Stephen J. Murphy, III, in a Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Joseph spent his 2L summer at McDonald Hopkins.

  • Daniel Kweon

    SPEAKER COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

    Daniel (‘25) is from Sacramento, California. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Dakota in 2018. Prior to law school, he served as a registered nurse in a cardiac unit in Kansas City during the COVID-19 pandemic. He started law school in the evening program at Fordham for two years, where he was a 1L Representative for Asian Pacific Law Student Organization. At Fordham, Daniel worked full-time as a registered nurse for Healthfirst serving the Harlem community in New York City. After two years, Daniel transferred to Michigan as a full-time law student. He is the Managing Executive Editor for Journal of Law Reform, Guest Editor for Texas Review of Law & Politics, and a member of the Christian Legal Society. During his 1L summer, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Barbara Moses on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. During the second summer, he served as a Summer Legal Intern for Deloitte Office of General Counsel, where he was a 1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity's Fellow. Daniel spent his 2L summer at Sidley Austin in New York.

  • Peter Foster

    SPEKER COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

    Peter (‘25) is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and minoring in French Language & Culture, European Cultural Studies, Medieval Studies, and Theater. While there, Peter performed with L’Avant-Scène, Princeton’s French-language theater troupe, and was the financial manager of the Princeton Tigertones, Princeton’s signature all-male a capella group founded in 1946. Prior to law school, he worked as a middle school English teacher in Paris, France. Peter spent his 1L summer interning for The Honorable Thomas Hardiman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

  • T.J. Kory

    MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CO-CHAIR

    T.J. (‘25) is from Naperville, IL. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2019, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Applied Economics. While there, he also served as Vice President of Operations and then President of a business fraternity with 150 members, coordinating events and professional development for the chapter. He then worked in data science for three years before beginning law school at the University of Michigan. In addition to his position with Michigan’s Federalist Society chapter, he is on the board of the UM Law and Economics Society. T.J. has worked as a legal clerk for National Indemnity, an insurance company located in Omaha, NE since his 1L year. During his 2L summer, he interned with the U.S. Army JAG Corps at Fort Liberty, NC.

  • Keelly Jones

    MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CO-CHAIR

    Keelly (‘26) is from Sedalia, Missouri. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago in 2019. As an undergraduate student, Keelly was heavily involved with the Neighborhood Schools Program, a student-led community outreach organization, and spent much of his time organizing academic and social events for the organization’s 400+ members while serving as part of the group’s executive board. Prior to law school, he worked as a Business Analyst for the Chicago office of Jenner & Block LLP, and then as a Project Assistant with Applegate & Thorne-Thomson, P.C. (where he also briefly oversaw the operations of the firm’s Conflicts Department). During his 1L year, Keelly served as a Speaker Committee Deputy for the Michigan Law FedSoc chapter, and as a Marshal for the Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition. Keelly also currently serves as the appointed Law School Representative on the University of Michigan Faculty Senate’s Committee on Oversight of Administrative Action, and will be joining the Michigan Law Review as an Associate Editor this fall. During his 1L summer, Keelly served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Susan Prose in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Next summer, he is looking to join a litigation practice. 

  • Kendall Doer

    MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CO-CHAIR

    Kendall (‘26) is from Russellville, Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Hillsdale College, where he worked in various capacities for the Chemistry Department and was on the executive boards of Sigma Zeta National Science & Mathematics Honor Society and the Hillsdale College Investment Club. After graduation, he immediately enrolled at Michigan Law, where he is an active member of the Intellectual Property Students Association and serves as a Research Assistant for Professor Bromberg. Kendall spent his 1L summer at McKool Smith in Washington, D.C., in the practice area of patent litigation. He will be joining Jones Day in Detroit as a summer associate in 2025. 

  • Zachary English

    TREASURER

    Zachary (‘26) is from New Boston, Michigan. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 2021 where he majored in Cognitive Science and Philosophy. While at Michigan for undergrad, Zachary spent much of his free time working as a resident advisor, and singing with the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. After graduating, Zachary worked for a Detroit law firm focusing on special needs trusts. Having returned to Ann Arbor, he continues to be involved in his church. Zachary spent his 1L summer interning for the Honorable Hala Jarbou, Chief Judge for the Western District of Michigan and hopes to remain in the midwest working in a firm after graduation.

  • Matthew Holmes

    PUBLIC RELATIONS CO-CHAIR

    Matthew (‘26) is a native of San Diego, California. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Concordia University Nebraska in 2022 and was a scholarship quarterback for the university’s football team. Before attending law school, he taught 9th-grade history, 6th-grade science, and 6th-grade math at a private Christian school in San Diego. When he is away from the law school, Matthew officiates high school football, sings karaoke, and enjoys lifting weights. Matthew spent his 1L summer as a Law Clerk for the Criminal Division of the USAO in San Diego.

  • Leah Humble

    PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIR

    Leah (‘25) is from Sevierville, Tennessee. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science and a Master of Public Administration. Leah is a Senior Editor of the Michigan Law Review and Senior Judge in the legal writing program. She also served as President of the Christian Legal Society and is a member of Lex Vitae and the Sentence Commutation Pro Bono project. During her 1L summer, Leah served as a judicial intern for Justice Sarah Campbell on the Tennessee Supreme Court. In the fall semester of 2023, she also served as a judicial extern for Judge Joan L. Larsen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Leah spent her 2L summer at Jones Day in Detroit. After graduation, Leah will clerk for Judge Stephen J. Murphy, III on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, then for Judge David W. McKeague on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

  • Caleb Ashley

    CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR

    Caleb (‘25) is from Greensboro, North Carolina. Caleb graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019 with a degree in economics and peace, war, and defense and spent three years working for a public relations firm in the D.C. metro area. At Michigan, Caleb is a member of the Campbell Moot Court Executive Board, a Course Assistant for Professor Nicolas Cornell, and a research assistant for Professors Richard Primus and Chris Walker. He was previously co-president of the Law and Economics Club, a First Year Information Leader, and a peer tutor. During his 1L summer, Caleb worked as a Dave Kennedy Fellow for the Institute for Justice. He spent his 2L summer at Cleary Gottlieb in Washington, D.C. Following graduation, Caleb will clerk for Judge David Stras on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Additionally, Caleb is an Executive Editor for the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy’s Symposium Issue.

  • William Dempsey

    CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR

    Will (‘25) is from Stamford, Connecticut. Will graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut where he played on the men’s rugby team and participated in mock trial. He graduated in 2019 with a degree in philosophy. Before law school, Will worked as a paralegal at law firms in Massachusetts. At Michigan, Will plays on the law school’s hockey team and is a member of the mock trial team. During his 1L summer, Will worked as a summer law clerk at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. In the spring semester of 2024, he served as a judicial extern for Judge Joan L. Larsen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He spent his 2L summer at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. After graduation, Will will clerk for Judge Daniel Bress on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

  • Zach Breininger

    ALUMNI RELATIONS CHAIR

    Zach (‘26) hails from Sterling Heights, Michigan, and has been a Michigander for the entirety of his life. A proud “double Wolverine,” Zach graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with highest honors in history from the University of Michigan in April 2020. He wrote his undergraduate honors thesis on the Catholic just war tradition, focusing on the writings of Cardinal D.J. Mercier, the Catholic prelate of Belgium during World War I. A practicing Roman Catholic, Zach is a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and has extensive volunteering experience in the Veterans Affairs network. Between stints at the University of Michigan, Zach assisted dozens of law enforcement, fire, and public health departments across the Midwest design and refine life-saving equipment procurement programs for their officers. In this capacity, he engaged with public servants ranging from chiefs of police to recruits fresh out of academies.

  • Trey Zanutto

    ALUMNI RELATIONS CHAIR

    Treyton (‘25) is from Richmond, TX. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He worked as a Research Assistant with A&M's Dept. of Political Science and interned with the U.S. House of Representatives, the TX House of Representatives, and the U.S. Dept. of State. Treyton was a two time NSF Research Experience of Undergrads Scholar and has two publications within A&M's Conference of Philosophy and the Chicago Journal of Foreign Policy. He is the Managing Executive Editor for the Michigan Journal of International Law. During his 1L summer, Treyton worked as a Walpin Fellow and Bradley Foundation Summer Associate with the Center for Individual Rights in Washington, D.C. Treyton spent his 2L summer at Baker Botts in Houston, TX.

  • Matthew Mincher

    ACADEMIC CHAIR

    Matthew (‘26) is from New Castle, Pennsylvania. He attended Youngstown State University, where he received a B.A. in History and Political Science, summa cum laude. While at Youngstown, he played a leading role in organizing the University’s History Across the Humanities conference, where undergraduates and guest speakers from across the region presented research. While in school, he worked at a country club, where he helped coordinate weddings and charity golf outings. During his 1L summer he worked as a judicial extern for Judge Chad Readler on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. After graduating, Matthew will clerk for Judge David Stras on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
